This is a Colombian roaster's Soho outpost, not a Soho cafe that happens to sell Colombian coffee. Beans roasted at their own Southwark arch, direct-trade sourcing, and a barraquito on the menu back that up.

A working Colombian roastery in Soho where the name is the sourcing brief, not the branding.

What we love

  • Beans from their own roastery at Flat Iron Square
  • Colombian direct-trade sourcing, and staff who communicate it unprompted
  • Barraquito on the menu, the Canary Islands layered espresso preparation
  • Flat white draws comparative praise from people who drink a lot of them

Kaffeine★★★ Purist

Peter opened this in 2009, when there were very few places in London taking coffee seriously. He's still there, and so is the standard.

Kiss the Hippo Coffee Soho★★★ Purist

Kiss the Hippo's Richmond roastery runs this Soho counter on the same terms, not a licensed spin-off. Every coffee here, blends included, is served with printed tasting notes, and the sourcing reaches Cup of Excellence lots and rare varietals most cafes never touch.

Café Vins★★ Specialty

A Carnaby bookstore that takes its coffee as seriously as its shelves. Order the flat white; reviewers call it divine and perfectly balanced.
